Focused on the concept of Human-Centered Planning and Design, this issue begins with an exploration of the foundational principles of Ekistics, the science of Human Settlements, formulated by C. A. Doxiadis (1913-1975), and extends to the contemporary theories and approaches adopted for developing sustainable and inclusive environment. Contributions include analysis of the reinterpretation and adaptation of Human-Centered Design principles, as well as innovative approaches and strategies in urban planning and design that integrate Human-centered Design to create sustainable, resilient, inclusive, and livable settlements. Also, the issue presents investigations of how Human-Centered Planning and Design contributes to fostering social inclusivity, equity, and community well-being within the framework of sustainable settlements, and the integration of technology and data-driven solutions in Human-Centered Design for sustainable settlements.
