In a region that can rightly claim to be “the cradle of Western civilization” with many modern day achievements, such as being the world's foremost tourist destination and third busiest (maritime) transport corridor, considerable challenges remain. This issue, concerning 'Cities and Transport in the Mediterranean Region', focuses on the solutions being developed at a range of scales for urban mobility and transport networks that increasingly rely on data and Artifical Intelligence.
